With its flowing, striped fins, the lionfish is a beautiful creature. But it’s also one of the greatest threats to coral reefs in the Caribbean! Lionfish are invasive to the Caribbean. That means they don’t normally live there. These fish lay up to 20 million eggs per year.

When too many lionfish live in one reef, they can destroy the entire reef community! That’s why, across the Caribbean, divers are participating in a new movement to catch and eat them. The more lionfish humans can remove, the better the reefs will thrive.
