Would you eat a treat made mostly of air? The world’s lightest dessert is made of 96 percent air!

Food designers in London worked with scientists in Germany to create the record-setting dessert. First they removed the liquid in a meringue, a treat made of egg whites and sugar. They replaced the liquid with a gas that weighs almost nothing.

For the international team, food brings people together. “It’s the most universal material. It’s one thing that unites all the different people on the planet,” says Rian Coulter, who works with the dessert’s designers.
